Ssenoga is the prime suspect in the murders

Police Flying Squad has finally netted a key suspect in the rape and murders of women in Nansana and Entebbe municipality Wakiso district.

Alfred Ssenoga, a prime suspect linked to the gruesome murders, was arrested Monday from Mpigi, according to Flying squad commandant, Herbert Muhangi.

Appearing on KFM "Hot Seat" programme, police spokesperson, AIGP Asan Kasingye, called Ssenoga's arrest a "breakthrough".

Ssenoga was allegedly found with a phone belonging to one of the victims, linking him to serial killers behind the murders.

It is also alleged that he murdered a one Regina Zawedde on August 17, in Bulaga Buloba.

The minister for Security Gen Henry Tumukunde on Monday rushed to Entebbe municipality to assess the security situation after another woman was killed in Kitara zone, Katabi Town Council in Wakiso district.

Police said in a statement, said the woman died from lack of food after collapsing at night.

Asan Kasingye, the police spokesman, said there were no signs of sexual assault or strangulation on her body.

Kasingye later changed his statement saying the woman was murdered.

In the last two to three months, women between ages 20-35 years have been murdered in suspected serial murders where the victims are first sexually-assaulted before they are murdered and sticks inserted into their private parts in Nansana and Entebbe municipality in Wakiso district.

The murders have so far claimed the lives of 12 women in Entebbe and 6 others in Nansana.

More than 16 people who include boyfriends, husbands of the victims and a witch doctor among others have been arrested in Entebbe in relation to the serial murders.
